Form i-9

MSU Human Resources verifies employment eligibility for the university using the Form I-9 online system. New employees as well as unit/department administrators share a responsibility for completing sections of the I-9 Form.

Newly hired and rehired employees to the university must complete Section 1 of the I-9 Form on or before the first day of employment. Original, unexpired documents from either List A or List B and C must be presented to the unit verifier within three calendar days of the first day of employment.

Training for the Electronic I-9 System

If you complete I-9 forms or need access to I-9s as an administrator, you must first complete training in order to receive access to the electronic I-9 system. Visit the Training & Security Access page for information on how to complete this training. Annual I-9 Compliance Recertification 

New I-9 verifiers will need to take the newly updated I-9 Compliance Initial Training before access can be granted by the departmental IT Security Administrator in D6501.  

Current I-9 Verifiers, that have completed the  I-9 Compliance Initial Training, will need to complete the annual I-9 Refresher course 365 days from the date of when the new I-9 Compliance Initial Training was completed (any time after June 21, 2021).

A new or revised eARM form is not needed for current I-9 verifiers in order to complete the Compliance Training.   

I-9 verifiers would still need to pass the test with an 80% score or better and the test is limited to three (3) attempts.
