CVS Caremark Maintenance Choice Program
Important Notice: Effective January 1, 2025, the CVS Caremark Maintenance Choice program will transition from being mandatory to voluntary.
This program allows members to refill maintenance medications in 90-day supplies, either through mail-order pharmacy services or at select retail pharmacies (e.g., CVS Pharmacy, Kroger, Costco, MSU Pharmacy).
Benefits: By filling a 90-day supply, you can save money on long-term medications (maintenance medications) and reduce the number of trips to the pharmacy, saving you time.
Cost: Filling a 90-day supply at select pharmacies (e.g., CVS, Kroger, Costco, MSU Pharmacy) or through a mail-order pharmacy will result in a lower co-pay; with just two copays for a three-month supply. You can still fill up to a 34-day supply at network pharmacies, but you will not receive the savings associated with the 90-day supply. To compare medication costs at participating pharmacies, please use the "Check Drug Cost & Coverage" tool on www.caremark.com.
How to Switch to 90-Day Fills:
- Ask your doctor for a prescription for a 90-day supply of your maintenance medications.
- Choose from two options to fill your 90-day prescription:
- Select Retail Pharmacies - Send the new 90-day prescription to a nearby select pharmacy (e.g., CVS, Kroger, Costco, MSU Pharmacy).
- Mail Order Service - Learn more about this option by clicking here.
Certain medications may be excluded from the Maintenance Choice program, including specialty medications, Schedule II drugs, and drugs with manufacturer or FDA supply limitations.
