Updated MSU REtirement FOrm

If you’ve decided when you want to retire and are getting close to making it official, we are pleased to share that the MSU Retirement Form within the EBS Portal has been updated to make it more user-friendly.

Updates include:

  • You can now use any standard web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) to access the form.
  • The new form is more intuitive as it walks you through the process and provides links to learn more about some basic information as you prepare for retirement.
  • You can submit your completed form up to 120 days in advance of your planned last day of work (for support staff positions) and up to 365 days in advance of your planned retirement date (for faculty, academic staff and executive management positions).
  • Once your submitted form has been approved by Human Resources, you will receive a retirement letter (via email) that will provide the most important items you need to consider during your transition to retirement (including MSU health care plan information and Medicare, if applicable).

Where to Find the Retirement Form

After you login to the EBS Portal with your MSU NetID and password, select the My Personal Information tab and click on the Retirement Form tile. Please use the EBS Help Page if you need assistance completing the form.

Special Retirement Situations

For those that may be considering a Leave to Retirement, a tenured Faculty Consultantship, or will have a special agreement with the university to retire, you will want to review the details of the separate manual retirement form process on the Special Retirement Situations page, as the EBS Portal Retirement Form is not designed for these special situations.

Resources to Help You Prepare for Retirement

For more information, please review the retirement resources on the HR website, which include a Roadmap to Retirement webinar, the effect of retirement on your benefits, information about Medicare and Social Security and a retirement checklist.
