Data Definitions (HRP957)

The data columns used in the Paid Fixed Term Faculty and Academic Staff – Terminated or Not Reappointed report are defined on this page.

  1. Organization Code:  The primary college or MAU code in which the employee is assigned. 
  2. Organization Name:  The primary college or MAU name in which the employee is assigned. 
  3. Department Code:  The primary department code in which the employee is assigned.
  4. Department Name:  The primary department name in which the employee is assigned.
  5. Continuous Service Date: The employee’s employment start date.  
  6. Employee Subgroup Name:  The employee subgroup in which the employee is assigned.  All control features of the Personnel Structure are defined at the Employee Subgroup level including specific payroll calculations for hourly or salaried employees, work schedules, and benefit groupings.
  7. Person ID:  An HR/Payroll system generated number linking a person to an assignment. A person with concurrent employment will have multiple PERNRs but only one PERSID.
  8. Personnel Number:  An HR/Payroll system generated number linking a person to an assignment. A person with concurrent employment will have multiple PERNRs but only one PERSID.
  9. Professional Name:  The employee’s professional name as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  10. Professional First Name:  The first name of the employee as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  11. Professional Middle Name:  The middle name of the employee as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  12. Professional Last Name:  The last name of the employee as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  13. Email:  The employee’s MSU email address (@msu.edu).
  14. Employment Percent:  The employee’s employment percentage.
  15. Effective Date for Employment Percentage:  The effective date of the employee’s employment percentage.  
  16. Contract Name:  The employee’s work contract: Fixed Term, Tenure/Contin, Contract, Roll/Fixed Cntr (if applicable).
  17. Gender Name:  The employee’s gender as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.  
  18. Ethnic ID:  The employee’s ethnic ID as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  19. Racial Category 1 Name:  Employee’s racial category 1 as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  20. Racial Category 2 Name:  Employee’s racial category 2 as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  21. Racial Category 3 Name:  Employee’s racial category 3 as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  22. Racial Category 4 Name:  Employee’s racial category 4 as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.
  23. Assignment Type Name:  The employee’s primary assignment type, i.e., Emeritus, Visiting.
  24. Job Title:  The employee's primary job title or classification in which the employee is assigned.
  25. Also Reports to 2:  The second department name related to the primary department in which the employee is assigned.  
  26. Also Reports to 3:  The third department name related to the primary department in which the employee is assigned.
  27. Also Reports to 4:  The fourth department name related to the primary department in which the employee is assigned.
  28. Also Reports to 5:  The fifth department name related to the primary department in which the employee is assigned.
  29. Addtl Rank:  The employee’s additional rank assigned as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.  
  30. Assgn 2 Department 1:   The secondary department name in which the employee is assigned.
  31. Assignment Type 2 Name:  The employee’s secondary assignment type, i.e., Emeritus, Visiting.
  32. Assgn 2 Name:  The secondary job title or classification in which the employee is assigned.
  33. Assgn 3 Department 1:  The third department name in which the employee is assigned.
  34. Assignment Type 3 Name:  The employee’s third assignment type, i.e., Emeritus, Visiting.
  35. Assgn 3 Name:  The third job title or classification in which the employee is assigned.
  36. Assgn 4 Dept 1:   The fourth department name in which the employee is assigned.
  37. Assignment Type 4 Name:   The employee’s fourth assignment type, i.e., Emeritus, Visiting.
  38. Assgn 4 Name:  The fourth job title or classification in which the employee is assigned.
  39. Assgn 5 Dept 1:   The fifth department name in which the employee is assigned.
  40. Assignment Type 5 Name:  The employee’s fifth assignment type, i.e., Emeritus, Visiting.
  41. Assgn 5 Name:  The fifth job title or classification in which the employee is assigned.
  42. Certificates:  Education and certificates held by the employee.  
  43. Action Type:  The type of action entered on the employee record in the HR/Payroll system.  
  44. Action Reason:  The reason why the action was entered on the employee record in the HR/Payroll system.
