HUman Resources (HR) In-Person Appointments to Resume August 16

Throughout the pandemic, HR offered our full range of services via phone, email, Teams and Zoom. Effective Monday August 16, HR will resume offering in-person services on a by-appointment basis.

Prior to the pandemic, most HR consultations with employees and units were already conducted this way. Appointments have been required to view personnel files, speak to an FMLA counselor, receive layoff counseling, or meet with staff in one of our centers of expertise such as Benefits or Employee Relations. In analyzing our pre-pandemic walk-in traffic, we found only about 10 percent of our customer service interactions were walk-ins without appointments, with the most frequent reasons for visiting being to drop something off or ask about employee benefits or concerns. HR was already considering shifting walk-in services to by-appointment service prior to the pandemic for the following reasons:

• To provide more privacy for our visitors – so you never find yourself in a crowded lobby trying to talk with staff about your private benefits-related issues with others listening in.
• To provide a better service experience by ensuring we book enough private time with you for your unique situation and connect you with someone who has the expertise you need.
• To protect the health and safety of all, by ensuring all in-person interactions happen in a private, quiet space that will be cleaned between visitors to improve infection control.

HR will continue to have a locked drop box in our parking lot that gets checked at least twice per day. There you can safely drop items like paper forms or letters any time at your convenience.
