REGULAR

Employed to work longer than 9 months for 20 or more hours a week.

OFF-DATE (APA and APSA)

Employed to work longer than 9 months for 20 or more hours a week, but with an ending date. No layoff rights, no bypass rights. Can be extended by Change of Status form if department wishes to continue their employment or terminate on effective date.

LIMITED TERM (CTU)

Employed to work longer than 9 months for 20 or more hours a week but with an ending date. No layoff rights, no bypass rights.

 

 

FLEXIBLE APPOINTMENTS

 

 

Can be professional positions or CTU. Both have: Type 1: Full-time active employment for 9, 10, or 11 months per year with a pre-scheduled unpaid leave of absence with benefits (flex leave) during the remaining months.

Only Professional Positions have: Type 2: 75 - 89% scheduled time active employment over the entire calendar year (30-35 hours a week) with part-time equivalent salary and some full-time benefits.

TEMPORARY

Employed to work 20 or more hours a week for less than 9 months. Exceptions are CTU and 1585 (1585 Chart). CTU temporaries working longer than 120 days will pay union dues, will receive the minimum pay of a level 03, and receive holiday pay. When a CTU position is filled by a temporary employee while the member is on leave, the temporary employee will begin to accrue vacation and sick leave after 180 days.

ON-CALL

Employed to work an irregular schedule of hours less than 20 hours a week. On-call employees are used to cover peak times or on an as needed basis.
