Annual Academic Raise - Variance Report
Introduction
This tile opens a report to track variance, or disagreement, on raise entries between units for joint appointments.
To begin, from Variance Report tile:
- Select College/MAU.
- Select Department.
- A row will be provided for each department related to employees with variance.
Notes:
- The entered College/MAU and Department entered will be limited based on access, however the results will show all related values for the employee with variance.
- An additional filter exists for Personnel Number, but College/MAU and Department are required fields.
Tip: For best results, when typing in a search field, select the appropriate values that prefill.
Default Display
The default display is grouped and sorted by employee name. A row is provided for each employee with variance and includes the following columns and data:
- Person Name – employee’s preferred name formatted ‘last name, first name’.
- Personnel Number – unique number for employee’s assignment.
- Employee Subgroup – employee’s appointment type.
- Employee Unit – the concatenated number and name of unit associated with the listed raise entries in this row.
- UNTF% - percent of assignment that is union.
- Weighing % - for joint funding approval, the percentage of salary covered by the department.
- Non-Union Total Salary Increases – Total Full-Time Equivalent non-union salary increases given, if any, for the employee’s assignment in this department. In the default grouping view, a subtotal representing the highest department total raise given will be displayed for this field.
- UNTF Total Salary Increases – Total Full-Time Equivalent UNTF salary increases given, if any, for the employee’s assignment in this department. In the default grouping view, a subtotal representing the highest department total raise given will be displayed for this field.
- Merit Raise Given* – dollar merit raise given, if any, in this department.
- Deans Withhold Raise Given* – dollar deans withhold raise given, if any, in this department.
- Excellence & Equity Raise Given* – dollar excellence & equity raise given, if any, in this department.
- UNTF Merit Given* – dollar UNTF merit raise given, if any, in this department.
- No Merit Reason* – reason for no merit, if provided, in this department.
- No UNTF Merit Reason* – reason for no UNTF merit given, if provided, in this department.
* indicates categories where department entries must agree to clear variance.
Note:
Records will only appear in this report when there is no agreement between departments on entered raise amounts. Once agreement is reached/entered in the application they will disappear from the report.
Tool Bar

Expand All
- When clicked will expand any grouped data that was previously collapsed.

Collapse All
- When clicked will collapse grouped data that was previously expanded.

Download Excel
- When clicked will download the specified department using the default layout with all formulas.

Settings
- Open settings to change the default groupings, sort, or column display.

Maximize
- While clicked will pop the raise list out in from the default application screen. The icon will switch to minimize at that point to close the new view.
Download Excel
- Enter/Select College/MAU.
- Enter/Select Department.
- Click on Download Excel icon.
- The file that downloads will be given a name using the following format “AcadRaise_VAR_(dept number)_(date time stamp).
Authorization and Access
To access the variance report, users must have an applicable security role in place:
- Department Maintenance roles: ZDHR_Raise_Dept_Maint_XXXXXXXX
- College/MAU Maintenance roles: ZDHR_Raise_MAU_Maint_XXXXXXXX
- Automatically inherits edit access at the department level for all departments reporting to that College/MAU.
- Department Display Only roles: ZDHR_Raise_Dept_View_XXXXXXXX
- College/MAU Display Only roles: ZDHR_Raise_MAU_View_XXXXXXXX
- Automatically inherits view access at the department level for all departments reporting to that College/MAU.
- University Display Only role: ZDHR_Raise_Univ_View
Employees will appear on lists according to their position’s reporting relationships as well as funding, with exception. Employees appearing on multiple lists will be labeled as Joint. Joint appointments must have the same raise information entered in all locations.
If you do not find the expected list Colleges/MAUs or Departments in the Annual Academic Raise tiles, please request access through an IT Access Request. If you do not find employees where expected, please reach out to Classification & Compensation.
