INTRODUCING NEW JOB POSTING PROCESS FOR TEMPORARY AND ON-CALL EMPLOYEES
To continue improving our hiring processes and ensure a more diverse applicant pool, MSU will require all temporary and on-call (TOC) support staff jobs to be posted publicly and processed through the PageUp applicant tracking system (ATS) beginning November 2020. The PageUp ATS is what we currently use to post other types of support staff positions at MSU.
MSU does not currently require units to post TOC support staff jobs publicly. This new requirement aims to increase the diversity of applicant pools and support an inclusive hiring process by ensuring equal opportunity for all candidates to apply and be considered for TOC jobs. Additionally, this new requirement will better align MSU hiring processes with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) guidance for inclusive, non-discriminatory hiring practices. Expected benefits of the new posting process include increasing the diversity of applicant pools, giving units tools for more effective recruiting, and providing new reporting tools to help units monitor and manage TOC employment.
We are communicating directly and regularly to HR representatives and unit administrators to educate them on these coming changes. Training opportunities and resources will be available closer to November 2020 to assist HR representatives, unit administrators and hiring managers in using PageUp for TOC job postings. You can learn more about TOC hiring on the HR website.
