Data Definitions (HRP814)

The data columns used in the Faculty and Academic Staff Eligible for Retirement report are defined on this page.  

  1. Org: The primary college or MAU code and name selected and contains employees assigned to it matching the criteria.  
  2. Department:  The primary department name in which was selected and contains employees assigned to it matching the criteria.  
  3. Personnel Number:  An HR/Payroll system generated number linking a person to their benefits eligible assignment.  
  4. Professional Name:  The employee’s professional name as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.  
  5. Original Retirement Date:  The date the employee retired from a benefits eligible position at MSU. 
  6. Job Title:  The employee’s primary job title or classification in which the employee is assigned.  
  7. FTE Service Mths:  The number of service months the employee has worked in a benefits eligible position at MSU.  
  8. Yrs of Svc:  The number of years the employee has worked in a benefits eligible position at MSU.  Is based on the employee's hire date (continuous service date) to the "As of Date" in the report prompts. 
  9. Retirement Elig Date:  The date of employment in a benefits eligible position where the employee is earning credit (time and FTE service months) toward meeting one of the two minimum retirement requirements.  
  10. Vested Date:  The first date the employee meets one of the two minimum retirement requirements while in a benefits eligible position.  
  11. Gender:   The employee’s gender as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.  
  12. Ethnicity:   The employee’s ethnicity as indicated in the HR/Payroll system.  
  13. Status:  The faculty, academic staff, or executive manager’s tenure or continuing appointment status (if applicable).  
  14. Leave Start Date:  Date employee started Leave of Absence (if applicable).  
  15. Leave End Date:  Date employee started Leave of Absence (if applicable).
  16. Type Code:  Action code “ZK” for “Leave of Absence with Pay” (if applicable).   “Leave of Absence without Pay” is not reported.    
  17. Reason Code:  Reason code for Leave of Absence transaction (if applicable).  The following reason codes are reported: 
    1. 06 = Sabbatical Full Pay
    2. 07 = Sabbatical Reduced %
    3. 13 = MSUE Study 2,3,4 wk Full Pay
    4. 14 = MSUE Study 3 Months Full Pay
    5. 15 = MSUE Study 6 Months Full Pay
    6. 23 = Educational
    7. 38 = Scholarly Activity
    8. 39 = Prestigious Award
  18. Department Count: Total count of faculty and academic staff eligible for retirement by department.
