2.6 Summary of Required Approvals
- Chairperson and Dean determine the need for and characteristics of a position.
- Chairperson conducts an affirmative action session with the search committee.
- Chairperson approves and submits the CHR Approved Academic Position Request including the position advertisement.
- Chairperson approves and submits the Academic Hiring Availability Data & Recruitment form with the CHR Approved Academic Position Request.
- Dean and Provost approve the CHR Approved Academic Position Request.
- Dean and The Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives (OIII) approve the composition of the search committee and the search plan.
- Search committee advertises the position and recruits a diverse pool of applicants.
- Chairperson and Dean approve the pool of applicants.
- Search committee screens the applicants and submits a list of final (on-campus interview) candidates to the Chairperson.
- Chairperson and Dean approve the list of final candidates via signature on the Academic Final Interview List Approval Form.
- OIII approves the list of final candidates via electronic workflow in PageUp.
- Search committee interviews final candidates and submits evaluations of final candidates and a final recommendation to the Chairperson.
- Search committee gives documentation for the search to the Chairperson.
- Chairperson determines terms of appointment and gives final recommendation to Dean.
- Dean approves final selection and terms of appointment.
- Chairperson writes letter of offer.
- If conditions listed on the Exposure to Health Risks/Physical Demands form apply to the position, the form is completed and sent to the applicable office, and an appointment is scheduled to permit evaluation before the employee begins work.
- Chairperson and Dean approve the Appointment form and forward it with required attachments to Human Resources.
- Provost/President/Board of Trustees approve the appointment.
- Director/Senior Advisor for OIII reviews the final list of candidates denoted in PageUp and search committee report and prepares an annual report for the Provost, with a copy for the Dean.
- Department keeps the documentation for the search for three years after date of appointment.
