Does the Dual Appointment policy apply to faculty who are on a sabbatical?

The provisions of this policy do not apply to faculty who are on an approved sabbatical leave of absence. However, all policy requirements as part of the Sabbatical Leaves Policy must be followed. Please refer to the Sabbatical Leaves of Absence policy for additional information.

I have submitted my retirement application and I am on an approved leave of absence to retirement.  Does this policy prevent me from being employed elsewhere?

This policy does not cover faculty and academic staff who are on an approved leave to retirement as a pathway to full retirement, so long as the provisions of the Optional Leave to Retirement policy have been met. Please refer to the Optional Leave to Retirement policy for additional information.

Does this policy apply to faculty appointed in a “no pay” capacity?

This policy does not apply to faculty and academic staff appointed in a “no pay” capacity, as individuals appointed in this manner are not employees of the University.

As an Academic Year (AY) faculty member, my duty period runs from August 16 through May 15; does this policy apply to the non-duty period?

No, this policy does not apply to the non-duty period for faculty/academic staff appointed in an AY capacity. The provisions of the Outside Work for Pay policy, however, do apply. Please refer to the Outside Work for Pay policy for additional information.

What constitutes “full-time appointment” under this policy?

Faculty and academic staff appointed at 90% FTE or greater are considered full-time.
