Welcome to a new Academic Year!

Dear MSU faculty and academic staff,

On behalf of Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs and MSU Human Resources, welcome to a new academic year at Michigan State University. Every fall, a feeling of change and possibility settles on campus. As students start to arrive, they bring with them a sense of purpose and plans for the future. In particular, our new students bring a bright hope and level of expectation that recharges us all. Thank you for all you do for our students – in the classroom, through advising, in your research labs, and through your day-to-day interactions.

We also thank you for your leadership surrounding the events that have unfolded at the university over the past year. We have all been challenged with the hard reality of areas where we need to do better. Times like these make us turn to the university’s culture and values, examining what they truly mean, how we act them out, and bridging the gaps that exist. Your voices have led and continue to lead these discussions. Even as we look forward to a new academic year, it is vital we continue to support the survivors of relationship and sexual violence on campus and to pursue a culture of safety and respect.

Human Resources is here to help support you as you go about this important work. The HR Solutions Center is your main point of contact for questions regarding benefits or employment. This team is dedicated to customer service as their number one priority. You can reach them via phone, email or in person at 1407 S. Harrison Rd, Suite 110.

You also can share feedback with Sharon at  hrmail@msu.edu  or Terry at  ahr@msu.edu .

If you are new to the university, we look forward to seeing you at orientation on August 21.

Thank you for all you contribute to the continuing success of MSU and accept our best wishes for a successful academic year.

Sincerely,

Sharon E. Butler
