Business Inclusion Supplier Expo

Do you make purchases for your department or are you involved in procurement decisions? Purchasing is hosting a Business Inclusion Supplier Expo on April 18 to foster relationships between diverse suppliers and the MSU campus community. MSU faculty and staff can connect with minority-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned, and other small and diverse suppliers who offer the types of goods and services frequently purchased on campus.

Although the Equal Pay Act was enacted by Congress in 1963, the wage gap persists. Currently, women earn on average 80 cents for every dollar paid to men. MSU has worked with our retirement vendors to reduce the expenses associated with MSU's retirement plans. As a result of the reduction in total fund expenses, a fee credit will be allocated this month to participants with legacy accounts.

Nominations for the Simmons Chivukula Award for Academic Leadership

The Academic Advancement Network (AAN) is pleased to announce a new award in recognition of and appreciation for the hard work and dedication exhibited by academic leaders. This award of $2,000 is generously sponsored by a gift from Dr. Elizabeth H. Simmons and Dr. R. Sekhar Chivukula. The award is for exemplary work in academic leadership at the ranks of: department chair, school or unit director, assistant dean, or associate dean.

The MSU chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is inviting nominations for the Excellence Award in Interdisciplinary Scholarship (EAIS). This award recognizes scholarly teams working across disciplinary and other boundaries. Send all nominations to MSU Chapter Office (room 93, Kellogg Center). Deadline is March 16.

Changes to Criminal Background Check Policy


In MSU's ongoing commitment to provide a safe environment, the criminal background check policy has been updated. All faculty, academic staff and executive management are now required to disclose to Academic Human Resources all events that could adversely affect their ability to fulfill their responsibilities as an employee of MSU.

New I-9 Scam: What to Watch For


Employers are receiving phishing emails appearing to be from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about employees' I-9s. These emails are NOT valid, but appear authentic and come from a uscis.gov address. Do not respond or click links in the email. USCIS does not send emails to employers about their I-9s. Follow MSU reporting protocol by sending the email to abuse@msu.edu and deleting it from your inbox and trash.
