ARO: Internal Applicant Reminders

A reminder for current MSU employees applying to job postings:

  • Log in to the EBS Portal.
  • Click the Careers @ MSU tile to go to the internal Careers @ MSU website.
  • To apply, click on the position name and click the Apply Now button.
  • Under the Current Employees box, click Next.
  • A box appears showing your name and MSU NetID email. Click Next.

If you do not sign in with your MSU NetID email, you will not appear as an internal candidate to receive appropriate eligibility and ranking. If you use a departmental/personal email, your application will appear as an external applicant.

Retirement Plan Core Investment Menu Updates

Retirement Investment Update

To ensure MSU continues to help employees meet their financial goals and investment objectives, MSU HR reviews the investment options available through the 403(b) Retirement Plan and the 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan accounts frequently. As a result, we have the following updates to the core investment menu options that will be effective in July 2017. Read more about the updates.


MSU Staff Work Climate Survey

MSU Staff Work Climate Survey

All support staff should have received the MSU Staff Work Climate Survey on June 2. This survey is similar to the one that was conducted for faculty that resulted in enhanced training programs, work-life resources, and professional and social support initiatives. Survey sections include job advancement, unit conditions and relationships and workplace environment, among others. Clerical-Technical Recognition Award Celebrates
15th Anniversary

Outstanding Supervisor

The 2017 Gliozzo Clerical-Technical Recognition Award celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. To celebrate this occasion, two recipients will be awarded this year. Nominations are being accepted through 5 p.m. on Monday, June 26. Sponsored by the Thomas and Concettina Gliozzo Endowment Fund, this recognition is awarded annually to a clerical-yechnical employee for his/her outstanding abilities and dedication to excellence. All-University Awards Call for Nominations

All-University Awards

Nominations are currently being accepted for the All-University Awards. Awards included are:

  • William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award
  • Teacher-Scholar Award
  • Community Engagement Scholarship Award
  • President's Distinguished Teaching Award
  • Distinguished Academic Staff Award
  • Excellence-in-Teaching Citations
  • MSU Alumni Club of Mid-Michigan Quality in Undergraduate Teaching Award

The nomination deadline is October 5. Nomination forms and instructions are located on the Academic Human Resources website. Be sure to confirm college deadlines, as most nominations are screened and submitted by the college.


Outstanding Supervisor Award Seeks Nominations

Outstanding Supervisor Award 2016

Members of the MSU community are invited to nominate a supervisor or administrator who consistently supports the work/life (professional/personal) needs of their employees and staff through positive leadership and managerial practices. The 2017 Outstanding Supervisor Award is currently seeking nominations now through Friday, June 30. Learn more about the award on the WorkLife website or submit the online nomatination form.


New BI Help Webpages

MSU HR launched new Business Intelligence (BI) Help webpages on the HR website on May 26. The new pages offer a better user experience and provide support for HR Unit Reporting Administrators. The pages include key BI support topics such as:

  • Data handling and security information
  • Report help documentation for HR Unit Reporting Administrators
  • A new form to request data or reports from HR

We encourage you to visit the new BI Help page. Your feedback is welcome as we continue to make improvements throughout the summer. Email MSU HR with feedback.

 


MSU Computer Store Becomes MSU Tech Store

The MSU Computer Store is now the MSU Technology Store. Along with its name change, the MSU Technology Store website has been updated to techstore.msu.edu. Read the full article on this change here.


MSU Employees Spend Less for the Spartan Coding Bootcamp

Coding Bootcamp

Is your high-school aged child interested in learning computer coding? The Spartan Coding Bootcamp is an opportunity for students to learn how to code, develop tech ideas and design. The week-long camp will take place from Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21. The first 30 enrolled children of MSU employees will receive a discounted rate. Educational Assistance Reminders

Educational Assistance (Ed Assist) provides employees with financial assistance and the opportunity to develop skills, enhance competencies and further educational goals to improve proficiency in their current positions or enhance promotability within the university.

What Ed Assist Can Be Used For

  • Credit classes or non-credit job-related courses/training.
  • Tuition for credit classes.
  • Registration fee for a non-credit course/training.

What Ed Assist Cannot Be Used For
Additional costs or fees such as travel, hotel, parking, meals, materials, etc. are ineligible for educational assistance and would not be covered.

MSU Posting Deadline: Fridays by Noon

Staffing requests for the Support Staff Position Vacancy Notice are due to MSU HR by noon every Friday via the EBS Inbox. All staffing requests received by this time will be posted the following Wednesday, provided all pertinent information is submitted. Applicant lists will be made available to the departments by noon the Monday following the posting close date.

Please note: Due to the Independence Day holiday, Staffing Requests for the Position Vacancy Notice of July 5, 2017, are due by noon on Thursday, June 29, so that we may meet publishing deadlines.
