2018 IRS Retirement Plan Contribution Limits
|
The IRS recently announced the retirement plan limits for 2018. Please be aware that:
- The annual employee contribution amount increased to $18,500 from $18,000 for 403(b)
and 457(b) plans.
- The age 50 catch-up contribution amount stayed the same and is $6,000 for 403(b) and
457(b) plans.

Identity Theft, Unemployment Fraud and Tax Fraud
|
Identity theft, unemployment fraud and tax fraud scams continue to be a source of
frustration. Each year, only a small number of MSU employees have been victims of
these particular types of fraud. Over the past year, MSU has devoted considerable
attention and resources to reduce the amount of sensitive personal information, such
as Social Security Numbers (SSN), it stores and uses and to maximize the security
of all SSNs that still need to be stored on its servers. Learn more about what you can do to prevent or respond to fraud.

IRS Extends ACA Individual Statement Deadline
On December 22, 2017, the IRS issued a notice that extends the deadline for employers
to furnish individual ACA statements (Forms 1095) for the 2017 reporting year. The
new deadline is March 2, 2018. MSU will issue 1095s by March 2. You do not need these documents to file your taxes, it's simply an IRS requirement for employers to send them. When the HR Solutions Center opened, Human Resources began forwarding some main lines
to the Solutions Center to help callers get connected to the correct area while getting
used to the main Solutions Center phone number. As of February 1, 2018, we will be
disconnecting the following numbers that have been forwarded to the Solutions Center. Please call

use 800-353-4434 or email the Solutions Center at SolutionsCenter@hr.msu.edu. The older numbers that are being disconnected include:
