MSU Mobility App – Win a Prize!

MSU Mobility Planning is conducting research to improve how traffic flows across campus.
The app "MSU Mobility Research" collects and uploads data from users as they move
through campus. Every day you use the app equals another entry to win one of several
prizes. The app is available for iPhone users – search "MSU Mobility" in the app store. Learn more about the goals of this project or contest/prize details.

New Academic Advancement Network Website
|
Associate Provost for Faculty and Academic Staff Development, Juli Wade, invites you
to explore the redesigned Academic Advancement Network website. You’ll find a fresh
look, easy navigation, and a Tailored Search tool to more readily find professional
development programs on campus and resources. Check out the new website.

Thriving at MSU Workshops
The “Thriving in the Tenure System I: Articulating Your Scholarly Identity through
a Strong Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure Packet” workshop will be held from 8
a.m. – Noon on February 19 in room B106/107 at the Henry Center. This program is designed
for probationary tenure system faculty to provide important information about the
process and expectations for reappointment and promotion to Associate Professor. Register here.
The Academic Advancement Network in collaboration with Academic Human Resources will
host a program for fixed-term faculty. “Thriving as a Fixed-Term Faculty Member at
MSU” will be held on February 23 from 8 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. in the MSU Union, Ballroom.
This program is designed for fixed-term faculty members to provide important information
and strategies about being successful in their careers. Register here.

2018 International Awards Ceremony Nominations
|
The International Awards Ceremony, sponsored by International Studies and Programs,
is your opportunity to recognize the international successes of the colleagues, community
leaders, students, and alumni who are advancing international research, engaging with communities and/or inspiring the next
generation of global citizens.
You can nominate someone in your department or college here. Please submit your nomination by December 31, 2017.

Spring Student Employment Information
The first day of spring classes is January 8, 2018. All student employees who have
graduated, or those not enrolled for the spring semester, must be terminated no later
than Sunday, February 4, 2018. All students may begin working up to 40 hours per week starting the week of finals
on Sunday, December 10, 2017 through Sunday, January 7, 2018.

Hiring Students? View Updates to the Student Handbook
If you employ student employees, there are a few new clarifications concerning student time records to the "Placing a Student on Payroll" section of the
Student Handbook.
- In the event that a time record is used in an electronic manner, the use of the msu.edu
email address will be required as the signature authority for the transaction.
- The records are to be maintained at least three years at the departmental level.
