MSU Temporarily Waives Limit for Excused Unpaid Time Off

Effective immediately, the university is waiving the ten-day limit for excused unpaid time off through the end of May. This means employees can take unpaid time off (with supervisor approval) without fear of losing benefits in May.

Employee Furlough Information

The University recently reached an agreement with the MSU Administrative Professional Association (APA) regarding furloughs. While the University struggles with operational and financial impacts of the COVID-19 health care crisis, protecting our employees’ access to health, dental and life insurance are critically important during this time. Collaborative conversations continue with other labor associations and several Tentative Agreements are currently undergoing ratification processes. No additional information will be available until those ratification processes are complete.

OPD Courses Canceled through August 31 - Online Learning Still Available

HR Organization and Professional Development (OPD) is suspending all in-person courses through August 31. We are reaching out to impacted employees directly and will continue to evaluate when courses will again be offered. We continue to work on department programs and individual opportunities that can be facilitated online and will provide information as these become available. In the meantime, professional development courses, books, videos and more are still available through the elevateU online learning platform.

Parking Fees Waived for Employees in May

Employee parking permits will not be payroll deducted for the month of May. Complimentary parking will be available in lots 15, 39, 54, 62, 63, 79, 83, 89, 91, 100, 109, 112, 113 and in Ramps 3 and 5. The pay by plate areas (basement level) of Ramps 1 and 6 are also complimentary.
