AHR / HR Service Integration

Effective Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 the Academic Human Resources (AHR)  records function was integrated into MSU Human Resources in suite 110 Nisbet Building.

AHR functions that have moved to Human Resources include employment recordkeeping activities for all faculty, academic staff and graduate assistants.  Those activities include processing hiring, changes of status and pay rate changes, including the raise process.  Administration of the course fee courtesy program for faculty and academic staff also will be part of the transition.

Other AHR staff and functions that are not a part of the integration will remain part of the Office of the Provost/Academic Human Resources located in 422 Administration Building. Those functions include academic HR policy development, reappointment, promotion and tenure review, Faculty and Organizational Development, faculty recruiting and other administrative functions related to faculty and academic staff.

The Academic Human Resources services that are being integrated into MSU Human Resources will be available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., including over the lunch hour. The main Academic Human Resources telephone number will remain 517-355-1526. Please note there will be a new fax number and each of the AHR staff members who are relocating will have new direct phone numbers as well.  The new numbers include:

Fax:                              517-432-3862
Margaret Dionise:         517-884-0215
Angela Hunt:                 517-884-0212
Betty Miller:                  517-884-0213
Bernadette Russell:       517-884-0214

Units should send or drop off forms and paperwork to Human Resource Services in Suite 110 of the Nisbet Building or use the 24-hour dropbox located in the Nisbet Building parking lot.  That dropbox is checked once per day at 1 p.m. In addition, for the convenience of units that prefer dropping hiring forms and paperwork off in the Administration Building, there will be an Academic Human Resources dropbox in Andrea Bulock’s office in 422 Administration Building where you will still be able to leave paperwork. The dropbox will be checked twice each business day and paperwork left there will be forwarded to the Nisbet Building

This integration will provide one-stop services to all MSU units, and will allow us to achieve many new efficiencies in the future by combining all hiring and records-related staffing expertise in one area and offering opportunities to develop shared systems for managing processes and information.
