MSU Recognized Same-Sex Domestic Partners
On September 12, 1997, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees added benefit eligibility for same-sex domestic partners of faculty, retirees, applicable staff, and graduate assistants who met certain criteria. Michigan State University subsequently discontinued benefits for MSU recognized same-sex domestic partners in order to comply with the Michigan Supreme Court’s ruling in National Pride at Work, Inc. v. Governor of Michigan, 481 Mich. 56 (2008).
